Pupil and Sports Premium

Pupil Premium

From September 2015 all children in Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 have been able to get a free school meal - regardless of income.

However, if you are on what the Government terms 'on a low income', it is important that you still apply for Free School Meals even if your child is in Early Years, Year 1 or Year 2. For every child registered, the school gets a 'Pupil Premium' up to £1, 455 per a child. This money is invested back in to helping your child achieve their best at school and enables us to provide a wide range of resources and opportunities.

Pupil eligibility

The following groups are eligible for pupil premium:

  • pupils who are recorded as eligible for free school meals, or have been recorded as eligible in the past 6 years, including eligible children of families who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
  • children looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked-after children
  • children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, referred to as previously looked-after children

PE & SPORTS PREMIUM

The Primary PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. The government has committed to this funding until 2023. The Department for Education’s vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is for:

“All pupils leaving primary school (to be) physically literate and with the knowledgeskills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthyactive lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.”

At Grace Cook we share this vision and strive to use the funding to create a long-lasting sporting legacy that will continue long after the Primary PE and Sport Premium. With this in mind, we aim to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of our PE and sport provision. More information can be found on the DfE website here

This means that we aim to use the premium to:

  • Engaging all pupils in regular physical activity

  • Raising the profile of PE and sport across the school

  • Increasing confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in PE and sport teaching

  • Broadening the experience of pupils by offering a wide range of sporting opportunities

  • Increasing participation in competitive sport
